Sebastian Ingrosso is reopening an important chapter in Swedish electronic music.
The Swedish House Mafia member has announced the return of Refune Records after a six-year hiatus, sharing the message: “Same label. New Music.” DJ Mag
Founded by Ingrosso in 2003, Refune became closely connected to the international rise of Swedish progressive house during the late 2000s and early 2010s.
Its catalogue featured music from Ingrosso alongside artists including Alesso, Dirty South, Laidback Luke and Otto Knows. The label was also connected to major records such as “Calling” and “Reload”, tracks that became part of the soundtrack to progressive house’s breakthrough into global festival culture. DJ Mag
According to DJ Mag, Refune’s previous release activity had effectively stopped after a 2020 reissue of Ingrosso and Steve Angello’s “Umbrella”.
Details about the new release schedule, roster or creative direction have not yet been announced. DJ Mag
The timing, however, is notable.
Swedish House Mafia have continued to release and perform new music, while Ingrosso has remained active both individually and alongside Axwell and Steve Angello. The trio released “Happiness Is So Sad” with Lykke Li during 2026, a track that was also co-produced by Max Martin and Oscar Holter. DJ Mag
Reactivating Refune therefore gives Ingrosso another platform outside the Swedish House Mafia ecosystem.
Whether the label focuses on established artists, emerging producers or a new generation of progressive electronic music will become clearer once the first releases arrive.
For now, the return itself is significant.
One of the labels closely associated with the golden era of Swedish progressive house is officially active again — and a new chapter is about to begin.
